Fixing Transportation

Jan 10, 2016

There’s nothing more unnerving at times than Twin Cities’ traffic. Unfortunately, despite billions spent out of the Federal Highway Trust Fund, all the politicians can think to do is raise gas taxes and then redistribute the revenues. Stopping trust fund spending on non-road uses such as mass transit trolleys, hiking trails, and urban planning would be a good first start towards solvency. Yet the Wall St. Journal reports that “federal spending on such projects has increased 38% since 2008.” This must stop. After all, is it really a federal responsibility to build bike lanes?
