In response, Jason Lewis issued the following comments: “I am extremely grateful for the support of the Minnesota Republican Party, and humbled by the kind words from Chairman Keith Downey and Deputy Chairman Chris Fields. I look forward to a very competitive general election race against Angie Craig and the only way to retain this seat is to work hand in hand with the MNGOP and our tremendous grassroots in the 2nd District.”
Jason Lewis spent 25 years on the air as a voice in the conservative movement. An active Minnesota resident for two decades, he and his wife Leigh have two young daughters. Jason organized the first annual tax rally that has become a tradition in St. Paul, with thousands gathering to fight to keep more of what they earn. Lewis has been endorsed by the Minnesota Republican Party, the Freedom Club, the Powerline Blog, State Senator Dan Hall, State Senator Karin Housley, State Senator Dave Thompson, State Representative Tony Albright, State Representative Steve Drazkowski, State Representative Jon Koznick, State Representative Kathy Lohmer, State Representative Linda Runbeck, U of MN Board of Regents and former State Representative Laura Brod, South St. Paul Councilman Bill Flatley, former MNGOP Chair Bill Cooper, former candidate for Governor and CEO of Celcuity Brian Sullivan, 2ndAmendment advocate Dr. John Lott, 2008 national delegate and veteran Chris Andryski, retired Army Captain and Iraq War veteran Jake Duesenberg, U.S. Air Force Veteran Nathan Krogstad, United States Marine Corps Veteran Greg OConnor and County Commander Ty Sheridan.

Republican Party of Minnesota Announces
2nd Congressional District Primary Campaign
(Minneapolis, Minn.) - Today, the Republican Party of Minnesota announced its primary campaign in support of endorsed candidate Jason Lewis in the 2nd Congressional District.
“Jason Lewis is clearly the front runner in this race, as witnessed by the desperate personal attacks against him,” said Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman, Keith Downey. “As our endorsed candidate, Jason will have the complete resources of the Party behind him, and I call on all the other candidates to get behind him too and abandon any false hope of succeeding in the primary. And we are excited today to announce a comprehensive field campaign effort, which will also focus on the primary if necessary.”
The Party announced it will manage a field program in conjunction with its local districts including voter identification, early/absentee voting, get out the vote, and election day operations.
Deputy Chairman, Chris Fields added, “Jason Lewis is just what the working families of CD 2 need. I’m enthusiastically supportive of his efforts and his commitment to the ideas that will get America back on the right track.”
Downey further explained the dynamics of the race and demonstrated why Jason Lewis is the only candidate who can beat Democrat Angie Craig.
“Jason worked tirelessly to earn the support of our grassroots, which is absolutely critical to beat the well-funded Angie Craig and her national Democrat machine. He will also draw the clearest contrast with Craig, who is way too extreme for the 2nd district. She is an extreme, left wing liberal who will be a continuation of Obama’s 8 years that have produced a stagnant economy, unsustainable debt, and an EPA that is seeking to kill jobs right here in MN’s 2nd district. Jason in contrast has the most depth on the issues and a plan to return economic prosperity for the hardworking citizens and families of Minnesota. Finally, Jason has raised the most from individual donors on the Republican side, and has by far and away the most donors with more than 1,600 Minnesotans who have contributed. Jason has built a strong and aggressive campaign apparatus that can go toe-to-toe with Craig. Again, the other Republican candidates should get out of the race and give our Party the time to consolidate behind Jason and unify the party to beat the radical Craig.”
