RELEASE: COMMENTS ON DARLENE MILLER’S CANDIDACY

Jul 29, 2016

Mike Osskopp, spokesman for the Jason Lewis for Congress campaign, issued the following comments about Darlene Miller and her candidacy in Minnesota’s Second District Republican Primary race:

“When a candidate runs for public office, they usually choose to align their candidacy with the political party their partisan leanings reflect the most closely. Oddly enough, it appears Darlene Miller’s political compass was broken when she filed the paperwork to participate in the Republican primary in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District. Prior to this primary election, Miller’s dabbling in public, political life ranged from serving on the Obama Jobs Council, participating in the Clinton Global Initiative, and accepting stimulus money from the Obama Administration and was then caught lying about it. Those liabilities aside, Miller says her candidacy is based on her credentials as a local job creator, but stated on the record in regards to her business outsourcing jobs to China, ‘how can you compete with .47 cents an hour?’ And on top of that, Miller pled guilty on behalf of her business for the improper handling of hazardous waste and for filing a false annual report, all infractions that occurred on her watch at her own company.

Clearly Miller is ill equipped for public office and filed to run in the wrong party primary. She would be better suited to pit her left leaning credentials against radical Angie Craig. Regardless, our hardworking families and citizens in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District deserve better in a representative than Darlene Miller and her expedient political ambitions.”
