Jason Lewis, the Republican Party of Minnesota’s endorsed candidate for Congress, is proud to announce the endorsement of Speaker Kurt Zellers in the race for Minnesota’s Second Congressional District.
Kurt Zellers was Speaker of the Minnesota House from 2011-2013 and served as Minority Leader from 2009-2011. Under Zellers’ leadership as Speaker, he led the fight to balance our state budget without a tax increase. Further, the budget went from a $5 billion deficit to a $2.8 billion surplus.
Zellers joins a growing list of Republican leaders and organizations that have endorsed Lewis in the race for MN-02, including Congressman Tom Emmer, Jeff Johnson, the Republican Party of Minnesota, Minnesota’s Freedom Club and 15 current and former state legislators.
Jason Lewis has united the spectrum of the Republican Party, building a critical base of support to help guide the campaign in the general election race against radical liberal Angie Craig.
Speaker Zellers issued the following statement in regard to his endorsement: “Jason Lewis is a strong fiscal conservative with a plan to get our economy moving in the right direction. I know he will fight to return prosperity for Minnesotans by supporting economic policies that will lift all hardworking families and citizens up, and I am proud to endorse him in the critical race for our 2nd Congressional District.”
In response to Speaker Zeller’s endorsement, Jason Lewis shared the following comments: “It is a tremendous honor to add Kurt Zellers to our team. As Speaker of the House, Kurt led the fight for fiscally responsible solutions to our budget crisis. Under his leadership, there was a substantial decrease in the cost of state and local government, and he led the critical effort to balance the budget without tax increases. I am proud to have Kurt on our team, and we are ready to take the fight for fiscally conservative principles against radical Angie Craig who will stop at nothing to expand upon the Obama tax and spend culture, ultimately passing the cost for her expensive policies on to the hardworking families and taxpayers in Minnesota.”
Jason Lewis spent 25 years on the air as a voice in the conservative movement. An active Minnesota resident for two decades, he and his wife Leigh have two young daughters. Jason organized the first annual tax rally that has become a tradition in St. Paul, with thousands gathering to fight to keep more of what they earn. Jason is also an author, public speaker, and started his career as a business owner running Lewis Motor Supply, a small business founded by his grandfather.
