Oh, the webs they weave
Oct 23, 2018Eagan, MN – Today, Jason Lewis for Congress Campaign Manager Becky Alery released the following statement regarding the DCCC’s new ad against Lewis.
“Oh, the webs they weave. Ignoring the fact that their candidate is the money candidate, DCCC tries another pathetic attempt to spin lies and mistruths about Jason Lewis. But we see through this, and so should you.
“They are attempting to hide the fact that Craig spent a whole million dollars more than Lewis did in the 3rd quarter alone without any advancement in the polls.
“They are looking to distract from the fact that more than half of Craig’s money comes from outside of Minnesota, while a vast majority of Lewis’ is from within the great state of Minnesota.
“And they want to do everything in their power to ensure no one sees this report – highlighting the fact that Craig has 20 outside groups spending money on her behalf to the three groups helping Lewis.
“In fact, in total, these groups helping Craig have outspent Republican groups in the district by a whopping two million dollars. Something in direct contrast to the lie Craig attempted last week about being outspent 4 to 1.
“They know just as well as we do, that it was Craig who was the top recipient from the medical device industry in 2016, hauling in an incredible $156,530 from that one industry alone. But according to them, it’s Lewis who is bought and paid for. False.
“Put the topic of the ad aside and there is a deeper story here. You would think given the attention surrounding the attacks on Republicans (Majority Leader McConnell was just accosted again at a Kentucky restaurant), Democrats would refrain from using video in their attack ads from a so-called tracker who was just arrested in Nevada for assaulting a woman. This individual, who had a history of this dangerous behavior, was nonetheless hired by the DCCC to do just this sort of ‘in your face’ work so evident in the hit piece on Lewis.
“Remember the Democrat tracker who assaulted a female campaign manager, was arrested and later fired? The same one who was arrested after assaulting a female press secretary for Secretary Zinke earlier this year. That is who shot this footage, who was aggressive with Members of Congress and who harassed these men and women on the streets of Washington every day.
“The Democrats may have fired him, but through this usage of this footage, it is clear they are fine with what he did and how he did it. Once again, the Democrats show they have zero regards for the safety of Republicans and are willing to do whatever they can to obtain power.
“As we heard from Craig at Friday’s debate, she refused to condemn Pelosi or the Democrats call for incivility. That is the problem with this ad, that is the problem with the Democrats, and that is the problem with Angie Craig.”
