Resistance & Retaliation vs. Results

Oct 12, 2018

Eagan, MN – Jason Lewis for Congress Campaign Manager Becky Alery released the following statement:

“Over the past two years, we have seen the ‘resistance’ movement take a hard-left turn and fast. This movement is no longer about resistance, this is about retaliation. This is about a party that is upset they are no longer in power and are desperate to get it back. In fact, they appear willing to lie, cheat and steal to do just that.

“Congresswoman Waters encouraged Democrat activists to get in the face of Republicans.

“Far-left organizations paid protestors to harass senators around the Kavanaugh hearing.

“The ever-bitter Hillary Clinton claimed Democrats should no longer be civil.

“And this week Eric Holder fully detailed what the new Democrat party looks like. In direct contrast to Michelle Obama’s ‘when they go low we go high’ mentality. Holder stated, ‘when they go low, we kick ‘em.’

“Right here in the Second District, Angie Craig’s anger has aggressively increased as well. In January, Craig staked out her role as part of the resistance by announcing that if elected, she would serve as a roadblock to Republican progress in Washington. Now, clearly, that’s just what we need. More roadblocks in Washington.

“But Craig’s anger has intensified with her new catchphrase being that she is ‘pissed.’ Her ‘outrage’ first came to light at the DFL convention, when rather than highlighting a single issue she supports or would work on as a Member of Congress, Craig took the opportunity to simply share that ‘the difference between 2016 and 2018 is this time she is pissed.

“Craig reiterated her rage at a poolside fundraiser, and then again at an office opening in Northfield. And even to a reporter. While consistently refusing to talk about the issues, Craig seems to always be able to fit in just how ‘pissed’ she is.

“But the thing is, the voters want results, not resistance or retaliation. That is why they elected Jason Lewis in 2016, and why they will re-elect him this year.

“Voters want a functioning Congress who is going to continue efforts to grow our economy and lift the quality of life for all Americans. Voters want elected officials like Lewis who will take principled stances, rather than Craig depending her million-dollar, dark money sponsors to dictate their radical liberal viewpoints. And voters want to be able to express their political views without fear of being ‘kicked,’ ‘run out of a restaurant,’ or being treated to a lack of civility.

“There is a lot at stake in 2018 and the outcome will be either resistance and retaliation by the Democrats or continued results by the Republicans. Craig will be part of the former, and Lewis the latter. The choice is clear.”
