Who’s Been Bought Off?
Oct 4, 2018Eagan, MN - Jason Lewis for Congress Campaign Manager Becky Alery released the following statement regarding the new anti-gun ad against Jason Lewis:
“If you liked the scurrilous allegations directed at Brett Kavanaugh during this disgraceful nomination process, you’ll love the new attack ads directed at Jason Lewis from the gun control lobby on behalf of Angie Craig. The $1.3 million Giffords PAC campaign funded by NextGen America and Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety has apparently taken a cue from beltway Democrats in Washington by actually insinuating Congressman Lewis was somehow responsible for a homicide.
“Every time you see these liberals unleash another McCarthyite smear, you think you’ve seen it all – until the next one.
“Beyond the outright falsehoods, what these drive-by ads don’t mention are the many dark money groups spending millions on Angie Craig’s behalf at a level more than 10 times the amount they are accusing Lewis of taking. That’s right, they bemoan Lewis taking less than $10,000 while they spend $1.3 million attacking him.
“But if its influence buying, at the expense human life, you’re really concerned about, then no one comes close to Angie Craig doing the bidding of her pro-abortion benefactors. Radical groups like Emily’s List, NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood, many of the same groups attempting to buy votes against Kavanaugh, have now vowed to do whatever it takes to defeat Jason Lewis.
“That’s right, the far-left abortion on demand group that is responsible for ending more than eight million lives since the passage of Roe v. Wade is spending hundreds of thousands on Angie Craig’s behalf. In fact, former Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards recently hit the campaign trail to rally support for Craig at an ‘early vote rally’ at the University of Minnesota. Predictably, Richards blasted Kavanaugh appointment to the Supreme Court at the event, saying his confirmation would ‘eviscerate’ abortion access across the country.
“And that’s why Angie Craig won’t put any ‘regulations’ on abortion-she’s been bought off by their wealthy lobby.
“The incredible financial support from Planned Parenthood and NARAL for Craig’s radical policies is even more apparent when you look at the current congressional delegation in Minnesota - even Democrat Collin Peterson has not only voted to support life but is the cosponsor of bills such as the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.
“On top of the Giffords-Bloomberg hit job, groups such as Environmental Defense Fund Action, and the DCCC are also spending millions in dark money all the while attacking Lewis for taking a few thousand dollars from pro 2nd Amendment groups like the NRA. It begs the question: who actually has been bought and paid for.
“Given Angie Craig’s questionable background and the campaign of smears she and her big money allies ran in 2016, none of this is surprising. But Minnesotans have had enough of these outrageous Democrat tactics, whether leveled against Judge Kavanaugh or Congressman Lewis. It’s time for them to end.”
