Will the real resident of the swamp, please stand up
Sep 21, 2018eagan, MN – Jason Lewis for Congress Campaign Manager Becky Alery released the following statement regarding the droves of special interests and dark money coming in to back Angie Craig:
“It’s amazing to see the blinders the left has when it comes to their candidates and hypocrisy – but nowhere is that more evident than when it comes to money in politics.
“Over the past few years, we have heard more and more about the ‘swamp’ that is Washington D.C. And now, Angie Craig and the Democrats have the gall to put Jason Lewis in the swamp category, but when you look at the facts, it is clear who is really living the swamp life and it’s not Jason Lewis.
“Isn’t it Ironic (don’t ya think) that Angie Craig and her Democrat cronies are casting judgment on Jason Lewis for ‘taking money from special interests’ while groups like Giffords PAC and the Environmental Defense Fund Action are throwing more than a million dollars at Angie Craig to support their special interests? And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Once again, Craig is on par to set fundraising records and outspend Jason Lewis 4:1 but yet they are attempting to claim Jason Lewis who is bought and paid for? Really, how ‘bout a reality check folks.
“As you know, Craig has a history of funny money - taking donations from radical groups like Population Connection Action Fund which advocates for zero population growth, and far left liberals and pals like Kristen Gillibrand who is leading the charge to abolish ICE. They are giving hypocrisy a bad name.
“And then there is the whole, running a PAC, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars lobbying, and being the top recipient of dollars from the special interests she lobbied for…
“While Lewis heads to our nation’s capital in order to fulfill his duties as Congressman, Craig flies to DC regularly to rub elbows with the liberal elite – most recently visiting the swamp to attend a fundraiser hosted by Queen of the Swamp herself, Nancy Pelosi.
“And recently, Ms. ‘I am against dark money’ Craig has graciously accepted the dark money help from Environmental Defense Fund Action to send mailers against Jason Lewis.
“A recent mailer against Lewis makes claims about his donors, but it’s pretty clear that it is Angie who has already been bought and sold. Something even Craig’s Democrat opponent Jeff Erdmann took issue with earlier this year.
“The mailer attempts to knock Lewis for 50k he took from one industry. But, once you look at the numbers, that is not even one-third of the money Craig took from the medical supply industry alone in 2016. Remember, this was after Angie lobbied for carveouts to benefit her industry who gave her so many donations as a thank you for lobbying on their behalf, she catapulted to the top recipient spot for that industry – in the entire country. It is almost as if those checks were to encourage her to continue to find loopholes for their industry.
“Whatever it may be, the numbers and facts don’t lie, and the real resident of the swamp is Angie Craig herself.”
